The objective of our Skills Unlimited programme in Parkwood, Cape Town is to equip

unemployed young people with vocational skills to become employable or to become

entrepreneurs and self-sufficient.

We offer the following skills:

General Residential Repairer

The General Residential Repairer course is designed for individuals who intend to provide

basic and common household repairs. These include replacement, repairs and maintenance

of minor domestic failures related to carpentry, plumbing, painting, electricity, flooring,

windows, gardening and fencing. Learners will also receive basic Health and Safety training

allowing them to work safely within the home environment. During the programme, the

learner will have exposure to various tools, equipment and consumables and this training will

enable them to work safely with the various tools needed to provide maintenance and

repairs whilst also teaching them maintenance procedures to ensure equipment lifespan is

maintained.

The hair colouring attendant course is designed for aspiring hair colour professionals, this

course covers the techniques and safety protocols for hair colouring services. Learners will

learn various colouring methods, including semi-permanent, permanent, highlights, and

creative colouring while understanding colour theory and product safety.

The hair-cutting course provides comprehensive training in hair-cutting techniques for all

hair types. Learners will gain practical skills in different cutting styles, including blunt cuts,

layered cuts, and advanced combination techniques, while understanding the principles of

shape, form, and facial features.

The hairstylist course is focused on hairstyling skills, this course covers various techniques,

from traditional methods like braiding and dreadlocks to contemporary thermal and creative

styling. It aims to provide learners with the expertise to style hair professionally, using

appropriate tools and techniques.

The hair and scalp treatment attendant course offers foundational skills in hair and scalp

care, covering shampooing, conditioning, and treatments. Participants will learn to identify

scalp conditions, recommend treatments, and perform massages for hair and scalp health.

Ideal for aspiring entrepreneurs, this course provides a thorough understanding of starting

and managing a small business. The program covers entrepreneurial skills, market analysis,

business planning, financial management, and customer service strategies, fostering a

mindset for business growth and innovation.

Participants will be able to conduct educational programs, create intervention plans, compile

reports, and establish sustainable drug education chapters, contributing to safer, healthier

communities.
