Programmes

Masakhe Foundation currently has five programmes under its banner, serving the communities in South Africa.

After-School Safe Spaces

“A space where children can be safe, stimulated, nourished physically, mentally, and emotionally where they can dream and just be children.”

The After School Safe Spaces programme is being run from Leiden in Delft where learners

from the Primary Schools and some from a high school in the area come to our facilities

daily. This area is known for violence, drug and alcohol abuse, thus the reason for wanting to

keep our children safe.

We assist the children with:

School homework

English Literacy Reading , spelling and comprehension

Mathematics lessons and tutoring

Music lessons consist of choirs and learning to play musical instruments.

Digital Skills.

Arts and crafts and Environmental awareness programmes as well as life skills programmes,

focusing on social responsibility.

We also provide a nutritious meal daily.

Addiction Awareness

In the Addiction Awareness programme, we educate substance abusers and behavioural

addictions, their families, friends and the community at large about the dangers of using a substance.

We operate throughout South Africa giving person-to-person support as well as

online facilitator training via Zoom.

This programme equips individuals with the skills needed to address substance abuse and

addiction within communities. The objective of the programme is to educate individuals with

in-depth knowledge of drug and alcohol abuse, its effects on individuals and families, and

community-based intervention strategies. The program prepares individuals to facilitate

educational awareness activities aimed at highlighting the risk and impact of substance

abuse, organizing community interventions, and contributing towards promoting social

cohesion and fostering a positive outlook in their communities.

Uthandiwe Children’s Home

Uthandiwe Children’s Home is a place in Malelane, Mpumalanga, where we house abused,

trafficked and street children between the ages 3 to 18 years. We currently have 35 children

at the Home. The children attend school and our objective is to provide them with a “home

away from home” and eventually place them with a family with the assistance of the

Department of Social Development.

Food Relief

Our Food outreach programme consists of the distribution of food parcels and food vouchers

to needy members of the communities we serve as and when the need arises. We depend

here upon donations from individuals and companies to supplement the service we provide.
